Redesign: Pizzazz Pizza Maker

The Pizzazz Pizza Maker remains one of Presto’s flagship products. Its fun and unique approach to making frozen pizza, without the added wait time of a preheating oven, keeps it a staple of dorm rooms and home kitchens alike.

To retain our place at Walmart, a call was made to re-evaluate the 15 year old styling of the product, without adding additional tooling cost. Plenty of new features were considered, but simple tool changes to improve the experience and appearance of the product were chosen.

The graphic sticker was redesigned to incorporate a monochromatic style. More modern and neutral, it fit more on trend, abandoning the dated gradient-heavy styling of the original design, in favor of a cleaner approach.

Tick marks were added, granting the user more precise control over cooktimes. In addition, a new logo was designed to include a simple, subtle spinning pizza motif.

The physical controls underwent change as well. Gone was the UFO-esque turn knob in favor of a visually distinct touchpoint that more clearly indicated to the user where the pizza was in the cooking process. The element toggle switch was given an easier to grasp touchpoint.
